RV-7A project, The Empennage

Fedex delivered two boxes containing the tail kit on January 4, 2006. My wife couldn't wait to see what was inside.

This is the box with the rudder, elevator and stabilizer skins in it.

After approximately three months of work and 155 hours the tail components were assembled and riveted up to the point where they would need to be inspected before closing them fully. Left is the rudder ready for riveting.

Left is an elevator prior to getting riveted together.

On November 16, 2007 the MD-RA inspector came by to inspect my work

and found it all acceptable. So I riveted everything closed and

I mounted all the parts on the fuselage.
